The Blue Bottle was the signature piece for my show, The Art of Bottling, held from May until September, 2013 at the Wine Well in Sarnia, Ontario.

I love the play on words with this piece...a glass with a long stem that could be regarded as easily tipped over, especially if held by someone whose been enjoying lots of its contents.

One of my favorite techniques, as seen in "Bottles on the Wall" and "In Case", is to use the opposite side of my paintbrush or a palate knife to carve through wet paint. This is a simple and effective way to create texture in the work.

The “Wine Vessels” series appears at first glance only to be abstract interpretations of wine bottles, but if you look between the bottles, there is a subtle addition. It may help to look from a distance. Can you see what other images these paintings portray?

At the Opening Reception for The Art of Bottling on April 28, 2013.
he Art of Bottling Show kicked off with a reception at the Wine Well in Sarnia. I sold 6 paintings and got two new commissions. The Wine Well put on a special for its customers and did more business that day than on any other day since it had been open.
I was inspired to paint the series "The Art of Bottling" from some of the experiences I've had with wine and from my travels in Australia where I worked at several vineyards harvesting wine grapes in the beautiful Margaret River region of Western Australia.
This was a commission that I did after the opening of The Art of Bottling.
